Why go there?
It is the historic capital of Provence, the city of Cézanne and calissons, it is also a lively city. Students make up a third of the population and rule the roost in the city centre which is swarming with hip bars! The city provides a little taste of Italy, 30 minutes from the beaches and 2.5 hours from the ski slopes.
Don’t miss
The Cours Mirabeau, which splits the old centre in two and where Cézanne used to come to have an anisette. Today it is the heart of trendy Aix, the place to see and be seen.
